Actively Teaching and Obeying

One of the reasons why Jesus Christ is an effective teacher to God’s children is because He exemplified what He taught. Children of God are on this Earth to be sanctified by God’s Word and shine His love to everyone (John 17:15-22). If we are to be effective teachers of Christ, then our words and deeds should be truly rooted in His teachings. The apostle Paul wrote, “The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” (1 Timothy 1:5) A devout, as well as, an honest faith in God is found in the strength and wisdom He provides to those who love Him and obey His teachings.

Jesus told His disciples, “If you love me then you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15 ESV) Each person has to take responsibility of his or her thoughts and actions if they want to be sure they are truly adhering to the commandments of Christ. 2 Corinthians 13:5 tells us, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” Comparing our thoughts and actions to God’s word is the way to truly align ourselves with Him. God wants to have an actively strong relationship with His children. He desires to renew our minds, so that we can find peace in His eternal love. Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Every day is an opportunity to teach others about the love and compassion our Heavenly Father has for His children. One of the commands in the Bible that Jesus teaches is that God’s children should love their neighbors as themselves. In Galatians 6:2-5, the apostle Paul explains one way we can fulfill this command is by bearing each other’s burdens and carrying our loads. Essentially, we should all be having the same compassion for others because we all belong to the same body of Christ. The love of Christ can unite us all. However, to be united is to truly embrace Him and spread His teachings!
