Hands That Work Continuously

“He’s Got the Whole world in His Hands” is a song that was orally passed down by Southern slaves as an expression of faith and encouragement during their oppression. Today, this song is taught to children and sung throughout the world to teach them about the power of Christ. This song’s influential lyrics are often overlooked by adults as a simple song that children can easily remember. However, as God’s child, do you have the childlike trust in Him?

This song brings confidence because it reinforces the message that God cares as much for you individually as He does for the whole world (John 3:16-17). Chapters 7 and 8 in the book of Ezra are great examples of how God actively supports His children in their day to day to life. In Ezra 7:11-28, Ezra received generous monetary support for their group effort to serve the Lord from king Artaxerxes of Persia. At this time and location in history, for a king to even allow the Jewish nation to worship anyone else but him and his gods (let alone support their effort in doing so) was a feat that only God could achieve.

God further aids Ezra in chapter 8 by providing a contact who knew 18 Levites to help Ezra’s group in their mission to serve God (Ez. 8:18). When the right person comes into your life at the precise moment you need them to, it is because God’s hands are at work. Lastly, God cares for Ezra in chapter 8 by protecting Ezra’s group from ambushing enemies as they returned to Jerusalem to do the Lord’s work (Ez. 8:22-31). God is equally concerned for your well-being as He was for Ezra and his group. As a timeless loving father, God is dedicated to all His created children.

In Romans 8:28-39, Paul tells of the love and devotion God has for His children and reinforces that everything has a Godly purpose. James 1:12 states, that even the trials in this life have a purpose, because if we endure them with loyalty to God, then we will receive the crown of eternal life. As we continue to face the trials of this pandemic and the struggles of this life, know that you are loved and never alone. God’s hands are continuously working for you because “He’s got the whole world in His Hands.”
