Narrow Path

 
"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." Matthew 7:13-14
 
 
Destruction or life?  Seems like a pretty simple choice!  Then why is it that so many choose destruction? Most of the time humans choose the path of least resistance. Humans normally follow the crowd down the nice smooth path. Humans normally focus on the next easy step rather than where it may lead.
 
 
A child of God is called to be different! An heir of God is called to not follow the crowd to destruction but to follow the Savior to life. A Christian realizes that each step we take may be difficult but that we are never alone as the Creator of all things walks with us.  
 
 
The apostle Paul ends 1 Timothy 4:8 with these words: "[G]odliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." We know that walking down the narrow path holds many blessings in this life and an abundant life in the life to come.  
 
 
Which way are you choosing? Are we trying to live a life that leads to Heaven no matter how difficult the walk may be? Are we trying to follow the crowd and enjoy a smooth walk through this life that leads to eternal destruction? All of us would say we are wanting to live with God in Heaven for eternity.  The question is, are we living a life that is leading to such an abundant life?
